Side by Side Therapy - Counselling & Hypnotherapy

Counselling 6th September 2010

What Is Counselling?

Sometimes it is difficult to talk to friends or members of your family. Sometimes it is difficult to find time and space for yourself. Counselling provides you with the time and space to explore your feelings, and enables you to understand and to come to terms with how you feel, and to make any changes you feel you need in your life.

Counselling is a therapy that provides a professional and safe environment for you to talk to a trained professional about how you feel.

Counselling helps you to make sense of your feelings, what is going on in your world and any difficulties you are experiencing. Counselling looks at issues in a non-judgmental way and provides empathy, support and understanding.

Counselling can also help you to increase your confidence, self-esteem and ability to cope.

Counselling often takes time. There is no "quick fix." But given time, the rewards can often be substantial.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Strict confidentiality is observed, in order to help build up complete trust between Client and Counsellor. Full details about this will be discussed when the working contract is agreed between Client and Counsellor.

The counsellors' Code of Ethics requires them to consult about their work with a colleague called a Supervisor. However, you will not be identified in such consultations, as the focus of this work is on the Counsellor's work, not the Client.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU?

Mainly, to keep the appointments punctually to which you have agreed. If you cannot do so for some reason and need to cancel an appointment, please try to give at least 24 hours' notice.
